Laura and I celebrate our twentieth anniversary today. Early last year—before all hell broke loose—I told her if I’d known being married was this much fun I’d married earlier. That said it wasn’t until the tenth year of marriage that I finally understood her—and by connection understood other women—and you can’t really love someone fully until you understand them. I believe this is what the Apostle Paul was alluding to when he wrote:
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.1 Corinthians 13:12-13
